TACK DESCRIPTION

Carpet tack strip, also called carpet gripper or tack-less strip, is one of the main products in carpet installation. Carpet tack strips run around the entire perimeter of a room and hold wall-to-wall carpeting in place. Mostly, though, carpeting tack strips serve to keep carpeting stretched out and wrinkle-free.

At Louis Carpet Supplies, our goal is to provide our customers the highest quality flooring installation products and that is why we manufacture top-of-the-line-grade tack strip in the world. Our most economical type of carpet tack strip plywood is approximately 7/8 inches wide. This is used for most residential and light commercial installations where savings are important. We are so confident with our tack strip products that we printed our name on each box.  If you are interested in inquiring about our products or pricing, please give us a call at 678-530-0061 and we will be glad to help.

Louis Carpet Supplies products are actively at work to make every step you take a comfortable one.  Whatever you call it, there are several important factors to consider when selecting your carpet tack strip for a particular type of installation:

1. THE WIDTH OF THE CARPET TACK STRIP

The most economical type of carpet tack strips is the 7/8 inch wide strip. It is used for cost-cutting during routine residential and commercial installations. Another most widely used type of tack strip is one full inch wide. The pins are moved farther back apart for extra strength and a better grip when using carpets or thick cushions.

2. THE TYPE OF ANCHORING NAILS USED

Nail quality is very important. At Louis Carpet Supplies, our high carbon concrete nails pass SGS test to ensure good performance in penetrating the hardest of concrete floors. Different nails are used for different kinds of floors.

Regular wood

3/4 inch nails x 12 gauge ring shank wood nails, used on wood floors or sub-floors made of wood products such as plywood.

Regular concrete

11/16 inch nails x 12 gauge concrete nails, used on most concrete floors.

Acoustical

11/4 x 12 gauge spiral elasticel nails, used on acoustical concrete floors to absorb sound between the floors of a building.

3. THE LENGTH OF THE CARPET TACK STRIP

Louis carpet Supplies tack strips come only in 4 foot length. Each packaged box comes in 100 pieces of 4 foot strips equaling 400 linear feet of coverage. Four foot carpet tack strips is the traditional length in the USA because the American standard plywood panel is 4X8 feet in size.

4. THE TYPE OF WOOD

Plywood is the main material in making tack strips. Louis Carpet Supplies only uses 5-ply plywood in
carpet tack strips. It is stronger than the original 3-ply, also provides high pressure laminated to give pins
and nails enough holding power to prevent strip from breaking while holding carpet.
